Monday 10 December 2012

I have woke up unbelievably early last Sunday, at 9.30am! Normally I would wake up around 11am or 10.30am earliest! Am I getting old hence the lesser sleeping time? There is nothing to do, my favourite cartoon is still not on yet. So I lazed around for awhile before heading to the bathroom. After washing up, pop right back to my bed and switch on the TV. Power rangers, not interested. Some Chinese kid sitcom, not interested. Alright, Ellen Degeneres talk show.

There isn’t much interesting topics or guests. So I went to surf internet, and half listening to her show. When I heard about her favourite facebook apps, I gave it my full attention. Wetopia, an apps allows you to play while giving real helps to the unfortunate. This is pretty interesting and new to me. I been in the facebook for donkey years, but I’m not hardcore in the facebook apps. Reason I’m using Nokia E7, hence the apps available are very very limited. Anyway, I searched Wetopia in my facebook and start playing it.

Generally it is similar to Farmville or Cityville, you build houses, grow crops, earn “money”, gain experience and level up. This is the special part – You collect “Joys” (denote as hearts) and use it to help kids. You can choose which project you want to donate the “Joys” to. Wetopia will tabulate the percentage of “Joys” each day and donate their earning to the respective project.

I played for few days, doing the same thing over and over again. By which helping the kids to have a better life. Oh ya, another apps you can try is Joy Kingdom. It is similar to Wetopia. Just that you are helping animals instead of kids.

Joy Kingdom, you fight off the dark minions, plants crops, supply food to the animals gain experience, complete quests and open up new portals. In turn the animals will provide “Joy” to you. After collecting the “Joy”, you can spend it on the project you support.

Everyone loves to play facebook apps, even my mum. So why not play facebook apps that will helps children and animals? Definitely is a win win situation *smilez*
After few months of not recovering from my massive pimple outbreak, my mum step in for intervention! "Too many pimples on your face, how can you accept it? You are going to see my doctor!" Then off I went to see her doctor at Neuglow. My sister went there, and she insists that it is better than National Skin Center.

As my mum goes to Chinatown branch, so I just tag along with her when she went for her chemical peel. The environment is pretty modern and cozy. You have ample magazine (and there are the latest edition, not some few months old magazine), drinks and brochures (so you can see the latest technologies). While waiting for my turn, I browse thru the brochures and it really amazed me! Now there is "magical" light that you shone on your face, and you get face lift. You do some lazer-ing, your fats can be freeze or liquify. Next thing you know, your fats is gone! I was exclaiming these amazing news while reading, and my mum just turn to her head and roll eyes at me, and mumble "these are old news". Well, she is a regular! Which people would update themselves every now and then regarding aesthetics technology?

After waiting for 15mins, it is my turn to see the doctor. Basically he analysed my skin, understand my diets, environment, and anything that may cause the outbreak. So after analysing, he recommend extraction and blue ray on my face. Then he told me how many session I may need, the frequency between each session and the results i will be getting. Most importantly, how much? He quoted me $80 for each session. As what I practice from my mum, I told him what my mum asked me to and eventually he lower to $50 for each session! You see, my mum is a long time customer so I guess it helps alot for the bargaining.

First session the extraction is quite painful that I teared. The doctor keep apologising and consistently saying he will try to be gentle. But I really have low tolerance for pain. After that, 15mins of blue ray session for each of my poor red cheeks. What amazed me is that after shining the blue ray, my cheeks became less red by 90%! My doctor instructed me to stop using moisturer because the climate in Singapore is not suitable. Toner and sunscreen is sufficient to protect my skin. After I stop using my moisturer, my face turned very dry and more pimples erupted!

1 week later, there is still alot of pimples and my skin started to be very flaky. It is something like sun burnt but not painful. Went back to the doctor again for my weekly appointment, the extraction is EXTREMELY painful! My tears uncontrollably keep flowing and basically I think I cried the whole procedure. Beside wiping the blood or whatever residual the doctor extract off my face, she is also busy wiping my tears. I really have low tolerance for pain.

Subsequently, the flakes dropped off. The pimples died off. I have some pimples here and there, but alot of red marks on my face. The extraction is still very painful, but not as painful as previously. I guess the number of pimples help. Lesser pimples = lesser extraction. My colleagues and friends told me my face has greatly improved from the past few weeks,

So did I manage to cure my pimples? As you can see from the photo, most of it is the red marks with a few red pimples left. It is a great improvement. Imagine all the red marks is big bumps pimples previously. So I guess I still have to continue my blue ray treatment then need to get rid of the red marks.

Gold Coast/Brisbane Itinerary: Day 4

Today is the Warner Bros Movie World day. I wasn't very keen on it because I been there before. Then again is 10years ago, perhaps things have changed. So we slowly make our way there. Our initial plan is take the public bus to Pacific Harbour and changed bus to Movie World. But we been waiting for the bus for almost an hour and we didn't see the bus at all! We walked over to the shopping center tourist counter and she told us we have missed the last bus! We are in total shock! How can we miss the last bus when we been camping there for almost an hour?!

Nevertheless the only way to get to Movie World will be by taxi. Have I mention that the taxi fare is VERY expensive in Aussie? After we took a taxi to Movie World, I never ever will complain about the taxi fare in Singapore. Just merely 30mins ride, the taxi fare is almost AUD70! *FAINT* Yes, is that expensive. From Jurong West to Pasir Ris, I guess the taxi would be less than SGD30?

We reached Movie World about 11am and bought our tickets from the counter - AUD80. Is it more expensive than Singapore Universal Studios? My dear friend doesn't dare to take exciting ride, so end up she took roller coaster from the kids section. And nope, I didn't join her because I didn't want to queue 1.5hrs just for a kid ride. End up, I walked around taking photos.

That is the viewing area for parents to wait for their kids.
But my friend does not need the supervision from me. So off I went, exploring other parts of the kids section.

This cute little water fountain for kids to play in.

Did we have this in Singapore? If we doesn't, we should get it!!!

How I wish I took the exciting rides......

At 5pm, there is announcement that Movie World is closing. So we took the public bus (which we missed for 1 hour) to Surfer Paradise. We will be going there for dinner and Ripley's Believe it or Not. We dropped at nearby bus stop and using my super duper cat sense (and a map), I managed to find our way to Surfer Paradise. Surprisingly, Surfer Paradise is not as big and crowded as we expected. I expected East Coast pattern, but it just a beach with "several shop houses".Perhaps we went there at evening, so all the crowd has dispersed?

Anyway, my friend decided that Ripley's Believe it or Not is too scary for her. So I have to go by myself. Bought the ticket, about AUD21 and before I went in, the counter told me I could take as much photo as I wanted. Pretty nice I guess because normally no photographing is allowed. When I went in, there isn't much people around, or I should say I am the ONLY person around, so it's pretty creepy. I was scared several times by sudden sound effects.

Beginning it is just some artifact and amazing people, so I still can handle the loneliness and took some photos here and there.

My feet as compare to the tallest man's feet. Fyi, I'm size 3 =P

When it gets to torture instruments, war weapons, it gets even creepier!
There is shrunk skulls everywhere. Weird instruments and torture equipment, I quickly breeze thru the area.
But quickly took the chastity belt as it seems quite interesting.. keke..

This is when I see the tunnel of light to get the hell off the creepiest section of the museum!
But it isn't the easiest tunnel of light because some spinning lighting makes me kinda dizzy while walking thru!

You be wondering what is this photo. I took this because these windows is one sided!
Other side of the windows is a mirror and there is a poster to ask to make funny faces!
Although there is no one in the museum, I'm still glad I didn't make any funny faces.

That's mark the end of my lone journey! Mee tup my friend whom is wandering in the cold..haha.. And we have dinner at Mos Burger before heading back home =)

Gold Coast/Brisbane Itinerary: Day 3

The day to head back to Gold Coast! First breakfast – Subway. WHY!!! I really cannot eat bread everyday! I’m Chinese! I need real food like chicken or something. Then again, it is the only place opens at 10am! Sigh….

After breakfast, we head back to Roma train station and go all the way back to Nerang Station. We took bus 745 and we saw a big colorful signboard “CARARRA MARKETS”. After shopping for an hour or so, I’m quite disappointed in the range of products. I kinda expect something like Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok. Anyway I’m quite happy with my lunch at a Maori food stall. At last some real food, sausages and chicken chop. I’m a happy happy girl. We have finished shopping and eating, I finally messaged my host in Gold Coast. I guess he just woke up even it is already 2pm. Perhaps he attend a bachelor party the day before so he completely exhausted. But he is so kind to drive all the way to Cararra market and pick us up to his house. So sweet!

We went to supermarket near his place. The steaks and stuffs are all so cheap! Except the Chinese Chai Sim, which costs AUD2.50 for 3 stalks. In Singapore, it is SGD1 for a lot of stalks! But rest of the stuffs are pretty cheap.

Our dinner will be lamb chop with butter rice. He is a marvelous cook! Nicely seasoned lamb chop with herbs and super tasty butter rice. And I didn't know it is so easy to cook butter rice. Put some rice, water and butter in a bowl. Cook in microwave oven for 15mins. Take out stir abit, cook for another 5mins. Mission accomplished! We eat a lot, talk a lot, watch some TVs and Zzzzzz…

I guess my friend is not used to the idea of Couchsurfing because she pretty uncomfortable and not to mention her naggings. “Why the door doesn't have lock?”, “We have to make small talk with him even we are tired”, “If we are at hotel, it would be more comfortable”, etc. Sad to say, I can escaped her naggings by pretending I’m asleep. But can’t escape her consistent tossing on the mattress because we are sharing one big mattress. Sighz!

Gold Coast/Brisbane Itinerary: Day 2

Second day of Aussie holiday continue in Brisbane. I began my day at Queen street for breakfast. At 10am, it is quite crowded with people, mainly teenagers & tourists. There are street performers almost every 10 steps away.

As a hardcore gamer, you definitely have to get a game whenever you go! I managed to get shadow of the damned at AUD15! Ok, I can get almost the same price in Singapore. But hey, I’m already holding it, price reasonable, and out it will goes with me. After that, I shop a little here and there. Walked into Lush and I spend an hour browsing all the products. No joke, an hour! The assistants are so hype, friendly and knowledgeable in their products! As compared to Lush Singapore, their services is excellent! They introduce their products, give recommendations, let you try their products and not pushy for the sales. Unlike Singapore Lush, the assistants will be standing like a scarecrow in the shop. When you question them, they seems to be unsure about their products. Super turn off. Anyway I bought some shampoo and mask and continue my shopping trip. Country Road is having some promotion and was distributing popcorns & balloons. The guys are super-duper gorgeous! Really can’t take my eyes off them *blush* Girls are just average, so is kinda disappointing though.

After grabbing some souvenirs, I head towards the tourists places.

First stop - Old Treasury Building (my original plan) but don't know why I cannot locate it. But I found Treasury Building. I kinda love the exterior of the building, touch of Victoria’s style. I didn't really explore to interior because it is partly hotel and casino and I’m not really interested.

Next head to St John’s Cathedral. While walking from Treasury Building to St John’s Cathedral, there is several smaller churches. And they are all so pretty and Victoria’s style. How I wish I can get married in one of these cathedral!

After visiting all the churches, I’m starving because it is almost 3pm. I spotted Food Court and dashed into it. End up it is just a consolidation of fast food! As you may know, in Singapore food court, we have lotsa different types of food. Western food, Chinese food, Korean food, Japanese food, Thai food, etc. I simply don't expect a range of fast food! *FAINT* As I’m starving, I just grab something to eat.

After recharging my “battery”, next in line is Queensland Museum

Perhaps there is a lot of animals, birds, insects and marine life, I am quite fascinated in there. In a blink of an eye, it is their closing time. While walking back to Southbank for dinner, I saw a building “NG House”. I burst out laughing and wonders when my dad bought a building in Brisbane. It’s really coincidence that the owner of the building has the same surname as my family.

Suddenly it’s started to rain! How depressing! I bought a magazine, drinking hot chocolate while waiting for the rain to stop. I plan to walk a little before having dinner. Then again, weather is against me. After finished reading my magazine and drinking my hot chocolate, I think my friend is kinda bored. So end up, I went to nearby store bought a raincoat for her and we headed back to hotel. I guess too much walking makes me hungry, so I grab some pie for my dinner. It’s kinda sad for my dinner though. My baby milo jacket was drenched in the rain, so I bought it to the dryer. Ate my dinner, watch some TV, picked up my jacket, masked my face and ZZzzzzz…

Next day, back to Gold Coast.
